Project Vulcan XH558

DNA Edition
Coming soon

The DNA Limited Edition Vulcan XH558 timepiece is made with original fuselage from Avro Vulcan XH558. Worn by decades of flight and no longer fit to remain on the aircraft, this piece of her DNA was entrusted to REC Watches and given a new purpose.

One of the world’s first large delta-wing aircraft, the Vulcan looked decades ahead of its time and handled like a fighter. Her Olympus engines, a family later developed to power Concorde, gave her a howl that airshow crowds never forgot. When XH558 touched down for the last time in 2015, it was the final flight of a four-engined jet designed and built entirely in Britain.

This timepiece unites authentic aviation history with Swiss horological craft. Designed from scratch, it translates XH558’s original DNA and unmistakable delta silhouette into a mechanical tribute to aviation engineering and to the people who kept her flying.

Did we destroy the plane?

Not at all. A section of the Vulcan’s original fuselage, too worn to remain on the aircraft, was entrusted to REC as DNA material for the Vulcan XH558 timepiece.

Rather than let this authentic piece of aviation history go unused, we have given it a new purpose. It now stands as a tribute to the craftsmanship and engineering of a remarkable era in aviation.

How is the DNA material authenticated?

The Vulcan XH558 timepiece is made in collaboration with the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, the registered charity that owns and cares for XH558. The Trust led the restoration that returned her to the sky in 2007, and no one knows this aircraft better.

The section of original fuselage used in this timepiece was provided and authenticated by the Trust itself.

Authentic aviation DNA

Wear a piece of the last Vulcan to fly

The Vulcan XH558 timepiece is not simply inspired by the Avro Vulcan. It carries original fuselage from XH558 herself, provided and authenticated by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust.

The story begins in 1952, when the first Vulcan took to the sky with a delta wing unlike anything else in aviation. Three years later, at the Farnborough Airshow, test pilot Roly Falk barrel-rolled one in front of the crowd. XH558 made her own first flight on 25 May 1960.

More than 55 years later, on 28 October 2015, she touched down for the final time. Worn by decades of flight, this section of her fuselage has been given a new purpose inside a mechanical timepiece designed and engineered from scratch.

Made by specialists

Two specialists. One timepiece.

The Vulcan XH558 timepiece brings together two teams, each with a lifetime of knowledge in its own field.

The Vulcan to the Sky Trust led the restoration that returned XH558 to the sky in 2007 and has cared for her ever since. No one knows this aircraft better, and it is the Trust that provided and authenticated the section of fuselage carried in every timepiece.

The watch itself was developed in-house by REC Watches and designed from scratch by a team that has spent more than a decade turning material from historic cars and aircraft into DNA Edition timepieces.

Authenticated by the people who know XH558 best. Crafted by those who have spent more than a decade giving history a new purpose.
