Description

The RNR Arkonik is a limited edition timepiece made in collaboration with Arkonik with parts from their genesis vehicle UJO.

The RNR Arkonik was designed and produced in close collaboration with Arkonik, as this vehicle holds a very special place in the history of what is today considered one of the finest Land Rover restomod manufacturers in the world.

UJO was the first vehicle acquired by Arkonik’s founder, Andy Hayes, and for years served as a testbed for their Special Vehicles Operations. In 2019, Andy decided to restore the Stratos Blue UJO, incorporating the very best of what Arkonik has to offer. UJO has since become the company’s flagship vehicle.

The RNR name is an abbreviation of ‘Road Not Required’, a reference to the off-road capabilities of these vehicles.

Recovered

Birth of a unique restomod

Arkonik’s origins are humble, beginning on founder Andy Hayes’ driveway back in 2006 after he had been involved in a motorcycle accident.

Arriving home from hospital, Hayes discovered his wife had bought him an old 1984 “Stratos Blue” Defender 110 to give him something to do.

The vehicle was nicknamed “UJO” in reference to its license plate “B379 UJO”. Once he had made the old V8 roadworthy, Andy traveled around Europe for a few months before returning to England with an idea: to create the most authentic restored Land Rover Defenders in the world.

And so, Arkonik was born.

Recycled

A collaboration born of respect

When the UJO was restored in 2019, one of the doors had to be completely replaced, which would eventually be provided from the Arkonik team.

Once we’d removed the paint and primer from the door, we punched out a total of 302 dials from the metal, each bearing the marks and dents acquired over the lifetime of this one-of-a-kind vehicle.

As well as providing the raw materials, the Arkonik team also offered critical feedback and suggestions during the development of the RNR Arkonik watch.

Reclaimed

A life on the road in colorful detail

Every detail of the RNR-Arkonik is designed to reflect UJO’s functionality, styling and history.

The 2-piece 40 mm light grey PVD square case with rounded corners and sport decals, in combination with the crown guard, mimics the characteristic angled clamshell bonnet and is built for durability.

Featuring a protective bezel and crown made from black EPDM rubber, C7 blue SuperLumiNova on the hour and minute hands and a light grey PVD case that strikes a sharp contrast with the recycled dial, the RNR-Arkonik is a bold looking timepiece born to seduce anyone who appreciates the design and history of this vehicle.

UJO’s history can even be found on the case-back. The area surrounding the screw-down back features a laser-engraved version of the pattern found on UJO’s chassis that depicts the personal adventures Andy Hayes enjoyed with the car prior to its conversion.

You can purchase this item in payment installments with Splitit - with no extra hidden costs. The installments will be spread over your chosen number of months and debited to your credit card.
Splitit installment payments at 0% interest: How does it work exactly?

Splitit allows you to split the total payment over a maximum of twelve months using your credit card. This service is free, involves no credit checks or applications, and means you can choose to split your payment into monthly installments.

To use this payment method all you need a credit card with a sufficient amount of available credit. Splitit authorizes the total order value—but don’t worry, this is not taken in full when you complete the purchase. At the time of shipping, only the first installment will be charged to your credit card. The remaining balance will be held on your credit card until the final payment has been made. However, a payment authorization for the outstanding amount of your purchase will be held during the full payment period.

After each monthly payment, the amount held from your available balance will be reduced to the new remaining balance (the held amount might appear as “pending”). To ensure that the authorization of your credit card is valid for the entire payment period, the authorization will be renewed every 21 days.

Are there any extra fees involved?

No, this is an interest-free payment method with no additional fixed fees, service fees, interest, or hidden fees of any kind.

Which credit cards does Splitit support?

You can pay using Splitit with a Mastercard or Visa card. Debit cards, American Express and pre-paid cards are not accepted.

Do I have to maintain the required available credit amount on my credit card?

Yes, you must maintain a sufficient amount on your credit card for both the monthly payment and for the full outstanding amount of your purchase during the full period of the plan. The authorized amount will be charged only in the event that a monthly payment is declined (the authorization hold might appear as “pending” on your credit card bill).

What happens if I return the product?

If you decide to not keep the ordered item(s), upon return of the items we will reimburse the installments that have already been paid and cancel the outstanding payments.

When and where can I choose the number of installments for my payment plan?

Installment payments with Splitit can be chosen as a payment option during the checkout process. Here, you can choose the number of installments in your payment plan and view the monthly payment amounts.
