The RNR Beachrunner is a limited edition timepiece made from the 1981 Land Rover Series III, ‘Beachrunner’.

Daniel Espirito Santo, a contemporary photographer and filmmaker from Portugal, has embraced a lifestyle many only fantasize about. Opting for a present-focused existence, he now spends his days on Peniche’s beaches, seeking the perfect wave while documenting his adventures.

His ’81 Series III, affectionately named ‘Beachrunner,’ epitomizes freedom in his life, serving as his trusted companion in exploration. When it came time to restore the vehicle’s roof, we seized the opportunity to create a watch that symbolizes more than just its history and function—it’s a testament to the unique bond between man and machine.

The RNR name, short for ‘Road Not Required,’ nods to the off-road prowess of these vehicles.

Sea-breeze & saltwater

A way of life

With sea breezes and saltwater soaking his surfboards, Daniel’s cherished 1981 Series III Land Rover, fondly dubbed the “Beachrunner,” suffered gradual deterioration of its roof.

More than just a mode of transportation, the vehicle symbolized Daniel’s departure from the corporate grind to pursue a life of adventure.

After undergoing extensive restoration in 2018, this metal shield that once safeguarded Daniel on off-road excursions and under the starlit sky became a vital part of his journey.

Recognizing its significance as a symbol of laid-back living, we opted to integrate sections of Daniel’s replaced roof into the dials of the RNR Beachrunner timepiece.

From roof to wrist

Patina included

We employed the sheet metal extracted from the roof to craft 552 dials, ensuring that each possesses its individualized patina, ensuring the distinctiveness of every RNR Beachrunner.

Following the meticulous removal of any remaining paint and primer layers to reveal the raw metal beneath, we delicately applied a fine coat of transparent lacquer. This not only achieved a perfectly level surface but also created a vacuum seal, effectively inhibiting any further oxidation process.

A marriage between

Form & function

Every element of the RNR Beachrunner design embodies both the utilitarian functionality and timeless aesthetics of the classic Land Rover Series III.

Capturing the essence of the vehicle’s design proved to be a significant undertaking, spanning an entire year of development.

Crafted with durability in mind, the 40mm square case features gently rounded corners, engineered to withstand rugged terrain and harsh conditions, drawing direct inspiration from the Land Rover’s robust build.

The protective rubber bezel pays homage to the spare tire mounted on the hood, while the screw-in case-back incorporates the iconic 5-bolt pattern reminiscent of the vehicle’s hubcaps. Even the crown guard profile has been meticulously crafted to mirror the Land Rover’s distinctive front grille.

Inspired by the vehicle’s color palette, the dial of the RNR Beachrunner reflects its rugged spirit, while its hands and indices are adorned with luminescent C3 Super-LumiNova, ensuring readability even in the darkest of adventures.

You can purchase this item in payment installments with Splitit - with no extra hidden costs. The installments will be spread over your chosen number of months and debited to your credit card.
Splitit installment payments at 0% interest: How does it work exactly?

Splitit allows you to split the total payment over a maximum of twelve months using your credit card. This service is free, involves no credit checks or applications, and means you can choose to split your payment into monthly installments.

To use this payment method all you need a credit card with a sufficient amount of available credit. Splitit authorizes the total order value—but don’t worry, this is not taken in full when you complete the purchase. At the time of shipping, only the first installment will be charged to your credit card. The remaining balance will be held on your credit card until the final payment has been made. However, a payment authorization for the outstanding amount of your purchase will be held during the full payment period.

After each monthly payment, the amount held from your available balance will be reduced to the new remaining balance (the held amount might appear as “pending”). To ensure that the authorization of your credit card is valid for the entire payment period, the authorization will be renewed every 21 days.

Are there any extra fees involved?

No, this is an interest-free payment method with no additional fixed fees, service fees, interest, or hidden fees of any kind.

Which credit cards does Splitit support?

You can pay using Splitit with a Mastercard or Visa card. Debit cards, American Express and pre-paid cards are not accepted.

Do I have to maintain the required available credit amount on my credit card?

Yes, you must maintain a sufficient amount on your credit card for both the monthly payment and for the full outstanding amount of your purchase during the full period of the plan. The authorized amount will be charged only in the event that a monthly payment is declined (the authorization hold might appear as “pending” on your credit card bill).

What happens if I return the product?

If you decide to not keep the ordered item(s), upon return of the items we will reimburse the installments that have already been paid and cancel the outstanding payments.

When and where can I choose the number of installments for my payment plan?

Installment payments with Splitit can be chosen as a payment option during the checkout process. Here, you can choose the number of installments in your payment plan and view the monthly payment amounts.
